This was in memory of my mother's journey from her childhood in Frankfurt, Germany to the ghetto in Lodz, Poland. My mother described her life in Frankfurt as one filled with love and a strong sense of community. Her bicycle, piano, books, and of course, her faith, were central to her daily life. The quotes interspersed in the piece are from the Mishna and read: be as “bold as a leopard, light as an eagle, swift as a deer and strong as a lion.”
